We believe we have the finest staff of any camp in the tri-state area...and beyond!

Owner/Director: Lisa Kasser started Burn Brae Day Camp in 1981 and has been the Owner and Director ever since. She majored in Theater and Dance at the University of Michigan and has starred in productions in the United States and Canada and appeared in a two person off Broadway play on PBS. In the early ’80s Li sa was the Associate Producer of Channel 17’s Dancin’ on Air. She has also taught and directed children’s theater. Lisa attended camp throughout her childhood and teenage years and continues to find enjoyment and inspiration in camp life everyday! She has one daughter who has attended Burn Brae since the age of two months. Lisa is also the owner of Maggie, a loving Bichon/Poodle, who is the camp mascot!

Assistant Director/Head of Sports: Mike Blum has worked at Burn Brae for the past 10 summers. For nine years, he had been the head of sports. Last summer, Mike left the ga-ga pit to join Lisa in the office as assistant director of Burn Brae. Professionally, Mike has worked as an Upper Moreland School District psychologist for the past 14 years. When not at camp, he enjoys playing basketball and softball, as well as attending his daughters' various sporting events each season. Mike’s daughter, Allison, will be joining him for her 10th season at Burn Brae...and she is only 12 years old! They both can’t wait for camp to start.

Nurse: Kerry Gidley, RN is our full time camp nurse. She has also been at Burn Brae for three years and is eager for camp to begin. Her children, John and Katie, also attend camp at Burn Brae! During the school year, Kerry is a school nurse at both Jarrettown and Thomas Fitzwater Elementary Schools in Upper Dublin School District.  Before she became a school nurse, Kerry was an oncology nurse at Bryn Mawr Hospital for 12 years. Kerry is looking forward to a safe and healthy summer at Burn Brae!

Camp Advisor: Martin Gilbert has his Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and is a Licensed Psychologist and Certified School Psychologist. During the year, he is a School Psychologist with the Delaware County Intermediate Unit where he has worked with students from Kindergarten through 12th grade in both a public and non-public settings. In the past, Martin has worked as a clinical psychologist providing individual and family therapy. Martin also served the community as a fire fighter, an EMT and a CPR instructor. Martin has been the Burn Brae Camp Advisor for a number of years. He assists campers with special needs as well as provides conflict resolution and monitoring the strict anti-bullying policy. The years at Burn Brae have been extra special as he watched his own children enjoy the Burn Brae experience. He is especially proud of his son who began as a junior camper and last summer joined the staff at Burn Brae as an apprentice camper.

Assistant Advisor: Julie Rosenberg has a M.A and is a certified guidance counselor and teacher. She has an extensive background in teaching at all grade levels. She taught for ten years before being a stay at home mom. Her two children are happy campers at Burn Brae! Recently, Julie completed her masters in school counseling at The College of New Jersey and re-entered the work force as an elementary school teacher in Camden, NJ. This past summer was her first summer at Burn Brae. As an Assistant Advisor she made sure all campers were in the right place at the right time. She helped out with emotional and behavioral issues as needed and gave assistance to special needs campers.  

Assistant Head of Sports: Tara Bellman has a degree in Elementary Education from Temple University and is certified to teach many subjects in grades K-12. Tara has been working at camps since she was 13 years old and has been at Burn Brae since 2009. Tara works with all our campers. She provides structure and support to our Junior and Senior sports, as well as overseeing the sport related activities with our pre-major groups. Her enthusiasm is contagious!

Ceramics: Emily Paulmier was our ceramics specialist for 8 years and then pursued a career in the medical profession. We are happy that she is returning to us this summer!  Emily has both a BFA and a MFA from Tyler School of Art. She is an accomplished and well known potter and instructor who has taught at Temple University, Main Line Art Center, Germantown Academy, Tyler, Abington Art Center, Philadelphia Art Museum and more. She has exhibited her sculptures in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Scotland. She has received numerous awards and honors for her work.

Rock/Guitar & Glee Club Instructor: Rich Cox is currently studying Music Education and Classical Voice at Temple University. He has been a voice, guitar and piano teacher for both children and adults for several years. He has been on European and New York tours with the City Rhythm Orchestra, has performed for George Bush and Henry Kissinger at the US Constitution Center, has opened for Bon Jovi and has also worked with artists such as Patti Labelle, Boys II Men and Randy Bachman. At Burn Brae, Rich has been teaching guitar, drums, voice and glee club for the past several years. He is the proud dad of two Burn Brae campers.

Aquatics Director: Jamie Kuttner is an elementary school teacher in a local school district and is the mom of two Burn Brae campers. In the past, she has taught yoga for and water aerobics at LA Fitness. She was an aquatics director at a local area high school swim program. Jamie has been a swim instructor at Burn Brae for several summers and had been moved up to the position of aquatics director last summer! 

Dance: Marissa Cylinder has been dancing for sixteen years in the various styles of tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, modern, lyrical, hip hop, and more! She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at Arcadia University, where she also minored in Music and Dance. At Arcadia, Marissa taught and choreographed for the college’s dance club as its tap choreographer, and instructed her fellow students in preparation for each semester’s performance finale. Marissa teaches an after school enrichment program in dance at Pine Road Elementary for students in grades K-5. She has also assisted in dance studio classes and day camps, and is excited to return to Burn Brae for her third year teaching dance! Marissa loves combining her passions for teaching and dance. “When we dance, even the stars are within reach!”

TV/Video Instructor: Craig DoVidio is returning for his ninth summer teaching our campers television and video production including use of cameras, editing, writing, directing and producing their very own videos! Craig received his BA from Temple University in Radio, Television & Film and his MS from Philadelphia University in Instructional Design and Technology. Craig has been teaching TV/Filmmaking/video, photography and sound production since the 1990 as several colleges in the Philadelphia area. He also creates teaching modules for the internet (or computer systems) that assist to train individuals on how to do something specific, or how to retrain someone else on policies and procedures. He has three children who are Burn Brae campers.Craig owns Premium Studios creates wonderful memories for families by providing video, photography & disc jockey entertainment for Mitzvah and Wedding celebrations. He has won several awards for his cable commercials and movies by assisting his clientele communicate their story and generate more revenue. Craig is also a certified senior court videographer who provides high end production for depositions and court video related work.

Nature/Science/Music: Craig Berman has been interested in animals, nature, science, and music from a very young age. He has pursued these interests since the 1960s, receiving degrees in Life and Health Sciences and Entomology and Applied Ecology.  Craig has worked as a scientist and educator since the 1980s, teaching science to all levels:  from pre-K through adult. In the 1990s, Craig served as the Staff Naturalist at Briar Bush Nature Center in Abington, and has taught science and nature in the Philadelphia area and the Washington, DC area for many years. Craig has been playing music (guitar/vocals/songwriting/bass/drums/saxophone) and giving music lessons since the 1980s. He has performed and recorded his music up and down the Mid-Atlantic coast. While in the Washington, DC area, Craig played with the popular Soul/Blues/R&B band, the ML Band for over 10 years. Craig has also had the opportunity to play with Blues legends Big Jack Johnson and Sonny Rhodes. He currently serves as Science Teacher and Science Department Chair at Belmont Charter School in Philadelphia and lives with his wife, three children, and hound dog in Ambler. He will be returning to Burn Brae as our science, nature and music specialist as well as our rocketry instructor.

DJ Instructor: Howie Ginsburg has been teaching our campers how to be professional DJs for many summers. He uses his professional equipment and shares his professional DJ skills with our Burn Brae campers. Howie is a first grade teacher in West Philadelphia. He has been married now for 3 years in June, and has a beautiful little girl named Chelsey Ryan Ginsberg who will be a year old on April 22nd. Howie is also a professional DJ for All Around Entertainment in Huntingdon Valley. He loves working at Burn Brae and is looking forward to another great summer.

Office Manager: Barbara Spivack has been at Burn Brae for three years. She graduated from Finch College with a BS in Elementary Education.  Barbara has also graduated with a MS from Brooklyn College in Elementary Education and a M.ED from Bank Street College of Education in Educational Leadership. She has an extensive background in education and has taught pre-school, elementary (gifted and regular education), as well as, many years as a staff developer in the position of Math Coach. Her son, Jordan, is a camper at Burn Brae and enthusiastically participates in all aspects of the music program here and is looking forward to the summer.

Office Assistant : Margie Levy is a mother of two girls, Marina (Junior, age 7) and Alexandra (Pre-Major, age 5). Margie graduated from Villanova University with a BS in Biology and a minor in Psychology. Margie served as the President of MOMS Club of Wissahickon, now the Greater Ambler Area, from 2009-2010. She currently serves as their Newsletter Editor. Margie recently started working at Burn Brae Day Camp during the summer of 2011, where she fell in love with our amazingly talented musicians, singers, dancers, artists, actors/actresses, and ga-ga champions!
